With its towers and cobblestone streets, the riverside town of Viviers is straight out of a fairy tale! The Viviers Cathedral at the top of the hill is the oldest active church in France, built in the 11th century. Loved the beautiful ceiling, chandeliers & organ! The organ player performed a private mini-concert for our group, see the video below.
It's Thanksgiving weekend and I'm finally sorting through pictures from a trip to France I took this past summer, yikes! Here's a quick glimpse at the town of Beaune, the wine capital of Burgundy. We were only there for the afternoon but had some time to weave our way through the cobble-stone streets. We happened upon a beautiful church (Notre Dame de Beaune), wine cellars, a nougat shop, a cafe with amazing chocolate croissants and finally the Hôtel-Dieu Museum, a former hospital for the poor founded in 1443 and home of the famous charity wine auction. Thankful this Thanksgiving for the opportunity to travel!
